Stefany is a bright and fun adolescent. She is very social so she loves making friends. Stefany is only one of two of the children in the group home who are verbal. Stefany attends school at Concordia Lutheran School (full inclusion). She is in the 5/6 classroom. She had never gone to school before now and she is learning to read and write with the help of her teacher and the aunts/uncles at the group home. She enjoys school very much. Stefany has learned many songs a school, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. Alvaro, a member of the church, pushes her four blocks in her wheelchair over dirt roads to go to school everyday at 7:30 am. She has cerebral palsy which has caused partial paralysis on the whole right side of her body. Stefany received physical therapy in the group home to improved the movement and strength in her right hand, leg and foot. She is learning to walk. Stefany also received speech therapy to improve her pronunciation.
